Inveraray is on the western shore of Loch Fyne, near its head, and on the A83 road. It is a former royal burgh, the traditional county town of Argyll, and ancestral home to the Duke of Argyll. A small town with independent shops and cafés and a castle to visit - the family seat of the Duke of Argyll. The George pub serves great food and is a hub of local social activity. Oban is 45 min drive where you can take ferries to Mull and Iona or head to Gigha by boat from Tarbert for white sandy beaches.
